We'd love to learn about your business and what you do. Can you share more?
I wear many hats around here: a chiropractor, doula, childbirth educator, Reiki practitioner, safer beauty advocate and salve maker, as well as being a mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. We provide support and education on how to integrate physical, nutritional, and mental aspects of a healthy lifestyle, for active and confident women with their families, who are excited about embracing life’s challenges with focus and determination.
Achieving a balance between personal life and business demands is a hot topic. What strategies have you found effective for maintaining harmony in your life?
Self-care has been huge for me to keep the balance. For me, that's working out (lifting weights, yoga, hiking), taking time to spend with friends and family, as well as doing things solo that let me decompress. I've also found that spending time with like-minded women has been a huge way to pour back into myself.
How do you leverage community and collaboration in your business strategy? We're keen to explore how female entrepreneurs are strengthening ties and creating synergies with other businesses and community members.
Connecting with other women who are small business owners & entrepreneurs has been so transformational. It makes you realize that you're not on your own in the ups and downs. Doing all of that not only brings people in your door, but opens your horizons for what they have to offer that you can in turn offer your community.
Failure is often seen as a taboo subject, but it can be a powerful teacher. Could you share an experience where you faced failure and how you turned it into a learning opportunity?
Sometimes bigger isn't always better. In my field that's male-dominated, the idea is that you want to have a huge practice with lots of doctors under the same roof and such. But that concept doesn't translate to me and my goals, so I leverage what works for me professionally and personally, and grow my practice that way.
Every entrepreneur faces hurdles along the way. Can you talk about a significant obstacle you've overcome and what you learned from it?
Not comparing myself to what I think I "should" do. Sometimes listening to the "experts" can make you feel like you're not doing enough. However, I've learned that being my authentic self matters so much more than what other people may consider business forward.
What advice or tips would you have for other female founders starting their businesses?
Create a community of women around you to support you, whether it's to help you troubleshoot a concept, get coffee, or just blow off steam.
